New Lion King Movie Will Explore Mufasa’s Life

Mufasa is probably one of the most beloved characters in Disney animated films. After all, even though Simba’s father only appeared during the beginning of The Lion Kinghis teachings and tragic death at the hands of Scar were recorded in the public of the tape of 1994.

But although for years that is the only thing that has been enough to love Mufasa, Disney wants to delve into the character’s past.

This Friday during the D23 the company announced a new project of The Lion King that under the name Mufasa: The Lion King will address the life of Simba’s father.

Mufasa: The Lion King will be directed by Barry Jenkins (moonlit), but it will not have the same style of 2D animation that marked the 1994 film and its sequels, but it will be done digitally with the realistic tint that the remake of The Lion King 2019. All while its plot will move in two eras and would involve Timon, Pumbaa and Rafiki. In fact, Timon and Pumbaa will again have the voices of Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen in the English version of the film.

According to TheWrapin Mufasa: The Lion King it will be explained that Mufasa did not come from a royal family and was born “without a drop of royal blood.” In fact, the first trailer for the film showed a puppy Mufasa in trouble. But of course, we already know that the character will eventually become king, but how that happened is what the film will address with narration from Rafiki.

Mufasa: The Lion King will premiere in 2024.
