Fraud in the Army: Minister Rutherford prosecuted five former generals for embezzlement of public funds

During the afternoon of this Thursday it was learned that the minister visiting the Court Martial Romy Rutherford put five generals in retirement from the Army to trial for his responsibility in the Repeated crime of embezzlement of public funds.

This, in the framework of the so-called case “Fraud in the Army”considering crimes allegedly committed between December 2007 and March 2018.

In detail, Rutherford prosecuted Guillermo Hernán Porcile Arellano, Alberto Eduardo González Martin, John Eduard Griffith Spielman, Sergio Patricio Ahumada Labbé Y Jose Manuel Llanca Zuazagotia.

In this sense, according to what was reported, the amount embezzled by the five defendants currently exceeds 455 million pesos.

In the case of Porcile Arellano, the prosecution is for a fraud of 151.6 million pesos committed between December 2007 and January 2011, while with respect to González Martin it is 91.9 million between January 2011 and January 2013.

As for Griffiths Spielman, the decision implies an amount of 84.4 million pesos embezzled between January 2014 and December 2014. In the case of Ahumada Labbé, meanwhile, the sum reaches 81.5 million between December 2014 and December 2016.

Finally, the prosecution of Llanca Zuazagoitía was for 45.5 million pesos defrauded between January 2017 and March 2018.

Minister Rutherford also decreed the garnishment of those processed for 170 million pesos in the case of Guillermo Porcile; 100 million, in that of Alberto González; 93 million, in John Griffth’s; 88 million, in that of Sergio Ahumada; and 50 million, in that of José Manuel Llanca.

In addition, it decreed the full national roots of the five defendants.
