As monarch he served 70 years and 214 daysbeing the second oldest royal head in history, only after the French Louis XIV, who added 72 years and 110 days, from May 14, 1643 at the age of 4 years.

Isabel II married Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark on November 20, 1947in Westminster Abbey, and had four children: Carlos (1948), Ana (1950), Andrés (1960) and Eduardo (1964); then adding eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren to the family.

Widowed in April 2021when Philip of Edinburgh died at the age of 99, due to “old age”, since no illness appeared as the cause of death.

History remembers that Elizabeth II “was not born to be queen”, as Edward VII abdicated the throne to marry Wallis Simpson, American and twice divorced. Thus, the throne passed to his brother Albert, who took over as George VI at the end of 1936.

Thus, Isabel II began her “instruction” at the age of 10 to assume one day as queen, which took place at the age of 25 and was also the first ceremony of this type to be recorded and broadcast on television. Two facts are recalled from this decision: Prime Minister Winston Churchill opposed and is considered one of the milestones in the sale of televisions in the United Kingdom.

“1992 is not a year I will look back on with pleasure”the queen once said, in the so-called “Annus horribilis”, as a result of the divorces of her children Andrés and Ana, the later edition of a biography of Diana of Wales -recounting her marriage to Carlos- and the disclosure of calls phone conversations between him and his lover, Camilla Parker-Bowles, which ended with another royal separation.

In 1997, when Lady Di died, the queen Elizabeth II faced criticism in the media and from the population, because his historical bad relationship with her contrasted with the affection that the British people had for him. Finally, she managed to find a way to pay tribute to her and even gave a speech in her memory, shocking everyone.
