Dogs and cats fight in the WWII RTS Warpaws

Today we discover Warpawsthe real-time strategy game where dogs and cats face off in an alternate world using World War II-inspired weaponry.

The title, developed by Slipgate Ironworks and 2B Games and published by Fulqrum Publishing, will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X| S, Nintendo Switch and PC in the first quarter of 2023.

You can see its trailer below:

Dogs vs Cats, this is Warpaws

It’s time to answer the age-old question: which is better, cats or dogs? Warpaws invites us to discover total warfare through the lens of classic slapstick cartoon-inspired art.

We will lead canine corps or feline forces and use strategic and planning skills to capture key control points from enemy units to dominate the map.

We will unleash strategic carnage with 16 different units in five battle-torn biomes. We can deploy spies for stealth engagements, send bazooka-wielding soldiers to dominate sand dune skirmishes, or muster a mix of gunners, engineers, and fire pyrotechnicians suitable for any engagement.

Each unit stands on its own; instead of replacing them with direct upgrades, all characters have their own specialties.

We will fight in a single player campaign or compete against other players in a variety of multiplayer modes. We can call a trusted ally and take down the AI forces in a cooperative mode, face off in online versus mode games or become the King of the Hill champion.

We will dominate each map (Desert, Polar, Lava, City, Islands) and we will use the landdestroying frozen lakes to drown platoons, driving opponents into blizzards, or even tricking them into swimming with sharks.

This is what I had about the game Daniel Mortensen, game director of Slipgate Ironworks:

As big fans of Bitmap Brothers’ Z, we’ve always loved the idea of creating our own strategy game that focused more on engagement than resources. Warpaws is our chance to make that dream a reality, and we hope you enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Warpaws will be available for PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch in 2023.
