La Roja needs goals and the coach Eduardo Berizzo it is more than clear. The DT summoned six of the eight top Chilean scorers in this semester abroad, for the friendlies against Morocco and Qatar.
In the current semester, the Chilean who has scored the most goals is Jean Meneses. The striker has seven goals in 15 games at Toluca in Mexico, in a remarkable start where he has also provided three assists.
Meneses does appear in Berizzo’s call, but it is not the case of Diego Rubio. In the second semester he adds six conquests in 12 games, by Colorado Rapids of the United States MLS. The one trained in Colo Colo has been regular all year, where he has already accumulated 14 goals and six assists, in all competitions.
With four goals stand out Alexis Sánchez, Angelo Henriquez, Ben Brereton and Diego Valdes. All of them were summoned by Berizzo for duels in Europe. The one with the best average is the Tocopillano, who has scored every 96 minutes since his debut at Olympique de Marseille.
One of the great surprises of the first payroll made 100 percent by the coach of the Red is Angelo Henriquez. The forward has had a rebirth at Poland’s Miedz Legnica, where he has four goals in eight games. His last call was in March 2021, for Martín Lasarte’s debut against Bolivia in Rancagua, where he played 17 minutes.
Diego Rojas He has also scored four goals this semester, at SJK Seinäjoki in Finland, but was not called up by Eduardo Berizzo. The scoring list is closed by a defender: Guillermo Maripán, who has three victories with Monaco in the 2022-2023 season.
